BMAFC is committed to providing a quality football environment, with the aim of developing skilful, creative players who understand the game. This environment will help players to realise their full potential in an enjoyable way and encourage them to keep playing football.

Grading

We are looking for players of all ages and abilities to join our club. Prior to the start of each season the club will hold a series of registration and grading sessions for each age group. The dates of these sessions will be advertised well in advance through signage around the community and in the local newspaper.

The aim of the grading process is to place players in a team with players of a similar skill level and then teams in the correct league which matches their overall level. This process allows players to play and develop to the best of their ability. This policy has proved very successful over the last three years with our junior teams gaining success at all ability levels and the club having teams reach the AFF Premier League level for the first time.

Team Selection

The age level grading sessions will be run by a nominated club coach who will take the overall responsibility of selecting the teams for that age level, based on player ability and numbers. Parents please note that teams will not be selected on friendship groups or by ‘having a word with the coach’. Please be supportive of our coaches who give up their time and if you want to affect the coaching, volunteer to help! Selection decisions will be communicated to all players via email or telephone within two weeks of the final grading session. If you have any issues with team selection please contact the club president - This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

‘Playing to Develop’ versus ‘Playing to Win’

Despite the words of the great Bill Shankly, “winning is not a matter of life and death……..it’s more important than that”, in youth football sometimes there can be an over emphasis on winning. In sport generally we are obsessed with the ‘outcome’ rather than the ‘process’. At BMAFC we will teach our players to compete, to compete hard and fair, to compete to win, but winning will not be the only measure of success. The ‘process’ of individual player / team growth, development and improvement, along with player enjoyment of the ‘beautiful game’ will always be a focus for the club and those people that give up their time to coach.

We want all out players to ‘be the best they can be’, enjoy their football and gain all the physical and social benefits of playing a team sport. We look forward to seeing you at our 2010 grading sessions. In the meantime if you have any questions please email us via the contact page.
