Senior Ladies: The Season So Far
Wednesday, 04 May 2011 21:08
The Senior Womens Team have now entered the Second Division, coming from 5th Div four years ago.
Our team had lost four players from last year, and aquired three newbies: Caitlin Sullivan, Kelsey Quine and Joanne Tait who have all come over from Fencibles. We welcome them and look forward to the season playing alongside them.
Our first game away at Ellerslie saw us come away with a 2-1 win, having being the first game of the season which is always met with excitment and nerves, it felt great to get this win under our belt.
Next was against Onehunga Sports. With some good passing and reading of the game we came away with a 3-0 win.
Then we go into the third round, facing Manurewa, which was a tough game to play. We as a team did not feel we played to our full potential and we were harbouring a few niggling injuries, coming out with a 0-0 draw.
Last week we played Janine Ross' old team and stomping ground Papatoetoe, whereby she gave us a 'large carrot' as an incentive to win (buying us all a drink after the game) which we did very convincingly 4-0. The team played together really well, some great passing and calling for the ball along with finding out some solid positions within the team from the earlier games made a big impact.
Our next game is at home Sunday 8th May against Waiheke 11 am kickoff. We welcome supporters, not only on the sidelines, but up at the bar to help the club!
