Over 35s: The Season So Far
Wednesday, 04 May 2011 21:22
Three seasons after BMAFCs second Over 35s team had disbanded (the Rangers), we once again enter two teams into AFF competition. This year is unique and breaks new ground for the club as - unlike the Rangers - both teams are comprised almost entirely from local players.
The Legionaries are playing in Division 3 with the Coasters playing in Division 5.
Legionaries
The Legionaries this year have been joined by three new players and have made a great start to the season winning three games and losing one; and sit fourth on the table, only one point off top place.
The boys have played some attractive football and this points to a great rest of season.
Coasters
The Coasters are made up nearly equally of past and new players.
They are still in a position where players are getting to know each other and results have been disappointing to date albeit it is hoped this will change shortly.
Even though the Over 35s have two teams, the whole focus is on ensuring that both teams act as a squad of players regardless of what team you actually play for; and the overriding factor is to offer competitive football with a great atmosphere and camaraderie, which has been the mainstay of the Over 35s in previous years.
