Reserves Move Like Jagger v Ellerslie

For Beachlands Reserve team, last Saturday provided amazing weather and the prospect of being the first team to play on the new number 1 pitch at Te Puru.
It was a resolute BMAFC Senior Reserve team that took the field to face up against top of the table Ellerslie, who had not lost a game to BMAFC in 4 seasons. Mindful of the slow starts in the past few games the boys were gee'd up by a buoyant rendition of "Moves Like Jagger" by Mark 'Sweaty Jock' Laidlaw in the changing rooms. The dulcet tones and dance moves must have worked some magic because the opening stanza of the game was completely dominated by BMAFC.

Reserves Beaten by Three Kings - Again

It was off to Keith Hay Park again against a second placed Three Kings Dunas team. In the first round clash a final 10 minute capitulation had seen the Three Kings team walk away with an easy 5-0 victory at Te Puru and the lads were keen to return the favor on the away fixture.

Reserves Towel Up Waiuku In Wet Weather

After a bruising encounter against top of the table Ellerslie last week, the Beachlands Maraetai AFC Reserve team returned to Te Puru to play Waiuku, determined to regain their recent form and rediscover their passing prowess. Influential midfielder Mark Laidlaw failed to recover from the previous week's game but would have felt at home in the dismal conditions. The driving rain and bitter wind just like a summers day in Leith. He was replaced by Team USA lookalike and ab flex cover boy Sean Langford. The team was also blessed with the services of fellow glamour first team squad player James Gibbs in goal for the first half.

Reserves guilty of not playing football

It was BMAFC Senior Reserves toughest match of the season so far against Ellerslie last Saturday, in what has been a very even AFF 3rd Division this year. Only 3 points separated 2nd to 9th on the table, which made any points a valuable gain.

Reserves Maintain Winning Feeling

The senior reserves stepped out onto Te Puru with possibly one of the best cultures within the club last Saturday. With the team getting a taste of the winning feeling against Three Kings the week before, the attitude and belief within the Senior Reserves had grown further, and there was a real desire to keep it going at home.
