First Team Record 1st Win of 2011

After being knocked out of the Chatham Cup in the first round Beachlands needed a change in luck and they found it with their away game against Otahuhu, winning 2-0. Beachlands first win and only their second set of points for the season.

The early possession was with Otahuhu who applied constant pressure throughout the first half but luckily for Beachlands they couldn't finish any of their chances.

Centre defender Brian Preston's injury early first half meant changes to the back line who then came under constant pressure, with Beachlands weathering the storm to hold out for a 0-0 first half!

James Gibbs just made it to half time due an injury early in the game, so even more changes to the defense which Beachlands seemed to absorb without too much difficulty.

A great heading finish from centre back Sam Scurrah on the end of a pin point delivery from Matt Henny put Beachlands 1 up halfway through the second half, starting a period of dominance for Beachlands. During this time of pressure from Beachlands, Matt Henney ran onto a through ball, which ended with a slide for the uncontrolled ball - the opposition goal keeper took offence, leading to him striking at Matt as he was on the ground. The ref saw no problem with the tackle from Matt and red-carded the opposition keeper.

Beachlands then capitalised on this 10 minutes from the end with new recruit Mustak scoring the second and last goal: another header from a left-footed delivery from Samuel Scurrah. The second goal putting the result beyond doubt!

  1. go the mighty BMAFC the first win of many!
  2. Go the BMAFC! What a piece of reporting brilliance from Sammy, and starting to sound more like Sergio Ramos each week bombing forward and hogging goals! haha Good work mate.
