1st Team Continues Strong Form

Another 'clean sheet' keeps BMAFC at the top end of the table after a 4-0 victory over Eastern Suburbs Ellis at Te Puru on Saturday.
It was a start lacking in energy or communication for the home side who were lucky to be 1-0 up at half time. The solitary first half goal game from a defensive mishap from Eastern Suburbs who gave away an own-goal. BMAFC were thankful their lethargic first half failed to translate into scoring plays for Suburbs, who were a team lacking direction up front.
And so after a half-time gee-up Beachlands began the second half with more intent across the park and some incisive attacking play. Early in the half Brent Couper found Eastern Suburb's net from a cross field kick, only to be ruled offside in a highly contentious call from the sideline official.

Beachlands' player of the day Tristan Blignault set up their second goal of the afternoon - a clever solo run down the left flank followed by a pin-point pass back to Anthony Schomaker on the edge of the goal box gave Anthony a golden opportunity to continue his rich goal scoring form.
Beachlands got their third goal when Beachlands striker Bryce Henney made the goal keeper pay for his miss-hit clearance.
The second failed clearance from Eastern Suburbs cost them a second goal and served only to frustrate the visiting side. Suburbs' misfortune served as a catalyst for Beachlands' ascendancy - the balance of possession swung heavily in the home side's favour. BMAFC goal keeper Adam Kelway was really only troubled with one threat from an on-target, long-range effort from Suburbs right midfield. Adam was equal to the task however, as his save further compounded Suburbs' woes.

With fifteen minutes remaining in the match BMAFC kept the throttle down and finished strong as Bryce Henny scored again and Anthony narrowly missing out on his second for the afternoon when Suburbs goalkeeper made a crucial save late in the match.
Beachlands next league game has been postponed due to their entry into the Chatham Cup, where they face Auckland Grammar School away at 2.00pm on Saturday April 24th.
