World Cup All White Graces Te Puru

With BMAFC 1st team pushing for 3rd place in the AFF Championship and Central United looking to finish the season strong after a wayward patch in the middle of year they played a trump card by fielding world cup hero Ivan Vicelich, It was no surprise for me as he is friends with most of the lads in side and we had heard he had been drafted in twice before when numbers were down.

1st Team make hard work of Fencibles

With the end of the season looming BMAFC 1st team needs to maintain a winning streak to finish the season in 3rd spot. Fencibles was next on the menu for 3 points, BM started the game with great purpose even after a lacklustre build up partly due to the fact the Papakura and Fencibles were playing at Riverhills park, it meant that the Championship sides were relegated to the small changing rooms, it makes you appreciate the great facility we have in Te Puru at our disposal, the lads also welcomed back Pete Jones from his trip home to the UK and it didn't take him long to impose his thoughts, the lads have certainly missed his approach and mannerisms.

1st Team Send Pukekohe Farmers Packing!

A glorious sunny winters afternoon and a brand new # 1 field... what more could the BMAFC players and supporters want! 6 points from 2 games will do thank you.

The reserves were first up on the new #1, taking on Division 3 table-toppers Ellerslie, and opened up in style with a gritty 1-0 win.

Next up was the 1st team still hurting from their 5-1 loss to cellar-dwellers Bay Olympic the week before. With their pride hurt and a 2nd place finish well in truly out of reach now they had Pukekohe visiting who were sitting in 3rd place 7 points clear of 4th placed BMAFC. Plenty to play for as Pukekohe had beaten 2nd place Three Kings the week before, they too are chasing that 2nd place which will give them promotion into the NFRL Div 2.

"Captain Hat Trick" Seals Win for 1st Team

Ant Schomaker grabbed the headlines on a sunny day at Te Puru, well apart from the brief shower just after halftime.

With the majority of games called off due to the heavy rain during the week I was able to call a few of the reserves to fill the squad. Ben Mallinson was out injured so Ross Murphy got the starting birth at left back and took his chance with both hands. It was a strong line up with the legendary Mark Bignell as cover for the backs, also Shane Gardner, Tristan Blignault and Paul (I cant buy a goal) Startin keeping the bench warm.

1st Team find it tough against the top!

For the 3rd week in a row the 1st Team found themselves playing at home as Manukau had put in a request to transfer the game to Te Puru due to the condition of their own field.

It was also a welcome relief to Have Head Coach Pete Jones sideline again as his new moon boot enabled him to give out his instructions closer to the action.
