Billy & Sam Jones Are WYNRS
Tuesday, 10 January 2012 20:51
Both Billy and Sam Jones of BMAFC are in the WYNRS (Wynton Rufer) football academy programme.
Sam Jones (12 years old) has now been selected for the academy team to tour Japan in January. This is the third year in a row a player from Beachlands- Maraetai AFC has been selected for this exclusive team, and Sam's is perhaps an even greater achievement as the number of eligible players in this year's trial group is double that of previous years.
Also, the brothers did well at the end of season prize giving for the WYNRS academy. There are 3 awards issued for each age group- Most improved, Player Of The Year, and the WYNRS "Aspire" Player Of The year which is the supreme award for the player who embodies not just the playing skills, but also the attitudes and philosophies of the academy such as Leadership, Respect, Never giving up, Determination, Goal setting etc.
Billy won the award for Player Of The Year in his age group, but also won the Aspire award and was the only multiple award winner in any age group.
Sam was also a nominee for his age groups Most Improved Player.
Well done lads - from all at BMAFC!!
