Beachlands 11th Grade Deckreation Stormers The boys visited Papatoetoe this week. 3 were missing so the boys knew they would have to play the full game with no rest. Papatoetoe scored first and defeat stared us in the face. Kharn scored one of his trademark individual goals to level it. Papatoetoe scored again from a defensive error. The boys took a few knocks but managed to level with a Mathew goal. Lachlan had a certain goal disallowed just be fore half time. In the second half, Rory came out of goal and was replaced by Mathew who managed a clean sheet. Well done Matty. Rory was like an uncoiled spring defending well. This allowed Jakob to push forward with Liam. Steven, Lachlan, Liam and Mathew all took knocks but battled on with no subs. Lachlan managed to save a goal with a "nice" shoulder charge. Two more goals from Jakob and Kharn finished the game at 4 -2 and the Deckreation Stormers remain unbeaten. Player of the Day was Steven Lindsay. Coaches Award went to Rory. A gutsy performance that could have been a bigger victory with more passing.
